South Central Racing (SCR) was started in 2004. Our mission is to support all aspects of cycling in Central Colorado by joining a community of riders, racers and kids on bikes. This means riding together, encouraging safe cycling, supporting local racers, promoting events and having fun. SCR membership is open to everyone.

We believe in giving back to the community, to this end, we have built a close tie with the Chaffee County Mentors. The mentor program provides one-to-one friendships to children in need of positive role models. Local youth ages 7 to 15 years facing challenges academically, economically and socially are matched with responsible adult volunteers. SCR provides bikes and helmets for these kids and during the Sunday Criterium at the Salida Omnium, we host a Generation Relay as a fund raiser. We also have created the SCR dream fund which provides money for enrichment activities for the kids; it is a fund so the kids can do a special activity or go on a new adventure. Other community projects include an “adopt a highway project”, an annual Gear Swap and a trail building with the Salida Mountain Trails program.
